Save the date: EU Code Week 15-23 October 2016

Publication date: November 26, 2015

Block your diary and start planning your programming events. Europe Code Week 2016 will take place 15 to 23 October 2016.

7,341 coding events took place in 2015 where people old and young, created with code. This year we reached across the borders to Africa and the US through partnership and collaborative coding events and we saw an incredible increase in the numbers of schools that took part.

The video competition ‘Ode to Code’ was also a big hit and enabled people to celebrate coding through dancing! Our Thunderclap campaign was successful with a social reach of 859,412 people. For the first time event organisers were awarded certificates for their participation. Google’s support for the Code Week also continued in 2015 by funding 60 initiatives in 24 countries.

Join the 2016 edition of Europe Code Week. Contact your school, local ICT business, a university nearby and get in touch with your coding community to make the 2016 edition of Code Week an even bigger success. In the meantime remember that ultimately “every week is Code Week”.

P.S. Final results of how many people took part in the events will be released in January, but we have a hunch we were more than 300,000 celebrating the power of code in 2015.
