Experts Go Back-to-school Campaign 2023

Welcome to a journey that transcends the ordinary classroom experience and transports eager students into the captivating world of software engineering. In this age of digital revolution, the significance of learning from industry professionals cannot be overstated.

As part of EU Code Week’s “Experts Go Back-to-School” Campaign, we had the privilege of hosting a brilliant software engineer, Constantin Macaria, who enthralled students with his expertise and insights.  

Presentation by the Software Engineer:

Constantin commenced the session with an engaging presentation on software engineering, he covered various aspects of this dynamic field. The introduction focused, above all, on software engineering as the art of designing, developing, and maintaining software systems. Moreover, Constantin highlighted the importance of software engineering in our technology-driven world, where almost every industry relies on software applications.  Consequently, our guest shared his journey as a software engineer, emphasizing the diverse career paths available in this field.  

Question and Answer Session:

Furthermore, the true magic of this session lay in the interactive question and answer session. In fact, the students, fueled by their curiosity, eagerly raised their hands and delved into a dialogue with Constantin. From general inquiries about the world of software engineering to specific questions about his experiences and projects, the atmosphere buzzed with enthusiasm and knowledge exchange. 

Programming Activity:

Finally, to enhance the students’ understanding, Constantin conducted a short coding exercise in Python. Students were given the opportunity to step into the shoes of a software engineer, applying their knowledge to solve coding challenges.  The activity provided a valuable opportunity for students to gain firsthand experience. It also allowed them to grasp the practical aspects of software engineering. 

Conclusion and Wrap-up:

The event served as a reminder that the path to success is often paved with passion, and persistence.  

And, as the session drew to a close, we summarized the key points discussed throughout the meeting. We expressed our gratitude to the guest for his valuable time and the invaluable insights he shared. From the foundations of the profession to the latest trends and challenges, the session broadened the students’ horizons and sparked their interest in pursuing a career in this rapidly evolving field.
