Launch of the second EU Code Week

Publication date: October 11, 2014

The second EU Code Week launches today with 2,000+ events in 38 countries across Europe!

When we were planning this year’s Code Week, we were hoping to get a thousand, but we’re amazed to now have over 2,000 events on the coding map of Europe! We are thankful to all of you, 90 EU Code Week Ambassadors and countless organizers and volunteers for helping to make the second EU Code Week such a massive success.

Are you wondering which countries have been the most active? Check out the #codeEU Events Scoreboard to see how your country compares to others. Ireland (310+) France (220+), and Greece (210+) have the most total events, but Iceland still sits on the throne with most events by population. A honorable mention should also go to Serbia, which was one of the last countries to join a bit over than a week ago, but there are already 50+ events planned across the country.

We’re especially happy to see a lot of schools planning coding activities in their classrooms this year.

Without further ado, we also wanted to wish everyone a happy and fun Code Week! Please don’t forget to share your events under the hashtag #codeEU, add your event photos to our official Flickr group  submit your coding stories, and apply for the Skill Sharer badge after the event.
